About

Specrove publishes phone specifications checked against the manufacturer’s own published figures, with the source and the date of the check attached to every phone.

Why this site exists

Specification sheets are copied more often than they are checked. A figure enters circulation at launch, gets repeated across a dozen sites, and stays there — even after the manufacturer quietly corrects their own page, or ships a revision with different hardware.

Specrove does the boring part instead. Every figure is read off the manufacturer’s own specification page, and the date of that reading is recorded next to it. Where a manufacturer publishes nothing, the row stays blank rather than being filled in from a teardown, an estimate, or another site’s guess.

What “verified” means here

A phone carries the green mark only when every published figure has been read from the manufacturer’s own source and the date recorded. Phones that have not been through that process carry an amber mark and are listed openly as awaiting verification, rather than being quietly presented as confirmed.

At the time of writing that is 24 of 30 phones. The remaining six are listed anyway, marked for what they are. The full method is on the How we verify page.

What a blank row means

It means the manufacturer does not publish that figure — not that it is unknown or unimportant. Battery capacity and charging wattage are the two most commonly omitted. Apple, for instance, publishes no battery capacity in milliamp-hours at all, so every mAh figure attributed to an iPhone anywhere comes from someone taking one apart.

A blank is more honest than a number carried over from a source that cannot be checked.

What this site does not do

Specrove runs no benchmarks, no battery tests and no camera comparisons, and publishes no scores. Everything here is a published figure with a traceable source. Where an opinion appears, it is marked as one and kept separate from the specification table.

Who runs it

Specrove is an independent project, not owned by or affiliated with any manufacturer or retailer. No manufacturer has any input into what is listed, what the specifications say, or what any assessment concludes.

Corrections

If a figure on this site is wrong, it gets fixed. Send the phone, the field and the source you believe is correct to hello@specrove.com and it will be checked against the manufacturer’s page. Corrections supported by a source are made promptly and without argument — that is the whole point of publishing sources in the first place.
