What this specification doesn’t say
OpinionTwo battery figures appear on this page, and almost nowhere else you will look for this phone.
Honor publishes both: 5200 mAh typical, 5100 mAh rated. The typical figure is what a good cell manages under favourable test conditions. The rated figure is the minimum the manufacturer guarantees every unit will hold. Same battery, two honest numbers, measuring different promises.
Every specification site prints the first one. The second exists because European rules require manufacturers to state it, so it lives in a footnote, in a product information sheet, in a regulatory database — everywhere except the row buyers actually read.
The gap is small here, and that is rather the point. A hundred milliamp-hours will not change anyone's day. What matters is that the figure being marketed is consistently the more generous of two the manufacturer already holds, and that the industry has settled into quoting it without ever mentioning the other exists. Nobody is lying. The convention simply favours one direction, every time, across every brand.
Honor deserves some credit for putting both on the page at all. Most do not. Apple publishes neither. Samsung publishes the rated capacity but files it under energy labelling rather than specifications, where nobody thinks to look.
Worth knowing when you compare this phone against another whose maker only quotes the flattering figure — you may be comparing a floor against a ceiling and calling it a difference.
Written 2026-08-04. This section is judgement, not measurement. Nothing in it comes from testing the phone — Specrove runs no benchmarks and publishes no scores. The figures above are the facts; this is what one reader of them makes of the result.
